Indications: General Obesity.
Dolichos biflorus is the drug of choice to control fat as it is indicated in Siddha texts as “இளைத்தவனுக்கு எள்ளு, கொளுத்தவனுக்குக் கொள்ளு” which means Sesamum indicum should be given for those who are emaciated and Dolichos biflorus for those who are obese. It shows a protective effect against the high fat diet induced oxidative stress. Nigella sativa reduces low density lipids and shows antiatherogenic activity. Tribulus terrestris significantly inhibits gluconeogenisis and reduces serum cholesterol and triglycerides. The flavonoids in Musa sapientum show hypolipidemic effect. Cynodon dactylon helps in reducing bad cholesterol at the same time increases the levels of good cholesterol. The other drugs show hepatic stimulant as well as antioxidant properties.
Dosage: 1 – 2 capsules twice or thrice daily preferably before food with water.
